Winter Bowl 2018 – Light Snowfall

Moomin winter season bowl 2018, Light Snowfall, features Moomintroll from the book Moominland Midwinter. Light Snowfall shows the moment when Moomintroll experiences his first snowfall.

This gentle blue product is different to the previous seasonal Moomin products by Arabia. The main color is blue, which depicts the cold of winter. Tove Jansson’s original drawing was made with a scraping technique, which is why the picture on the dishes had to be kept simple, using only a few colors. These illustrations have been done by ceramic artist Tove Slotte. She used Tove Jansson’s original black and white drawings as a basis for her work.

Describing the snow was one of Tove Jansson’s most impressive skills. The original “Moominland Midwinter” illustrations and descriptions of snow and snowing are based on dozens of Finnish and Swedish synonyms for snow. The childlike Moomins, usually hibernating, were a way to explain the author’s first magical experience of snow.

Moomin Summer Plate 2019 – Evening Swim

Moomin – Evening Swim is this seasons summer plate 2019.

Evening swim shows the image of the Moomin family alone on a sunny island. They have packed with them all the necessary and unnecessary things they need for a holiday. On the island, they are joined by pirates whose ship has ran aground. It is here that the Moomintroll meets Mymble for the first time as he saves her from the sinking boat. The evening sun colours the horizon pink and encourages the family to go for an evening swim. Using a stone and a plank, they make a jumping stand and from there Moommamma, Moominpappa, Moomintroll and Mymble dive into the sea. At the beach, the pirate’s cat looks surprised at the Moomin family’s holiday. The evening swim completes a long hot day.

Plate – Adventure Move (2013)

Arabia’s beloved Moomin tableware range will be complemented with a new Moomin Adventure Move series in early September. The grey, black and white series is accentuated with pink details. The six-piece series is suitable for all occasions, brightening the day and inspiring the whole family to start the day’s adventures. Arabias new Moomin Adventure Move series adds five new items to the Moomin tableware range, where the beloved characters are having adventures while moving out of Moomin valley to flee from a comet. The series is inspired by the book Moomin and the Comet written by Tove Jansson in 1946 and a comic book by the same name.

The artwork for the series draws from Tove Jansson and has been designed by Tove Slotte, who has also illustrated the other Moomin tableware series. Moomin Adventure Move series consists of six parts: mug, plate, bowl, pitcher and a jar in two different sizes. The harmonious and colorful series brings joy to place settings and color to everyday life. The items are easy to match with Arabia’s single-color tableware and other Moomin series.

Collector’s edition plate 2-pack 2017: Night Sailing & Peace

Limited edition plates featuring the illustrations from the Moomin mugs Night Sailing & Peace. The designs are based on Tove Jansson’s original artwork which Tove Slotte has interpreted in these lovely plates. Total of 20 different plates will be available in the coming years, the first collector’s edition plate 2-pack, Fazer & Moomintroll dreaming, was launched in autumn 2014, second Green & Christmas Greeting in 2015, and third Blue & Tove 100 in 2016. Winter Bowl 2015 – Hibernation

Seasonal Bowl for  Winter 2015

The bowl is designed by Tove Slotte-Elevant but based on the original drawings by Tove Jansson. The pattern is taken from the book Moominland Midwinter from 1957 where the Moomintroll surprisingly wakes up in the middle of the hibernation and decides himself to be the first Moomintroll to experience winter. He lights the oil lamp and takes a brave step out in the cold and snow-covered Moomin Valley.

Summer Bowl 2015 – Moment on the Shore

Seasonal Summer Bowl for 2015 – Limited Edition

This years limited edition Summer Seasonal bowl is the 4th of 4 in the yellow series that Arabia Finland have brought out.

It is called ‘Moment on the Shore” and is taken from the Book ‘Moomintroll falls in love’. The wonderful graphic image on the bowl shows Moomintroll with Emeraldo, who is part of the circus in Moominvalley, relaxing bythe river, in the sun. This all comes about due to Moomintroll falling in love breifly with Miss La Goona,  when he rescues her from the flood caused by heavy rain. All the men and women get frustrated with each other, including Snorkmaiden and Moomintroll, and all set up different camps one for men and one for women. When the waters subside, everything returns to normal in the valley including Moomintroll and Snorkmaidens loving relationship.
